What we're all About
At Impact Video, we focus on digital storytelling that raises up the voices of frontline workers, activists and organizations that are part of movements striving to build a more just, healthy and equitable world.
We see economic justice, racial justice and environmental justice as being tightly intertwined. We produce videos — backed by effective outreach strategies and proven distribution tactics — that engage key target audiences, inspire them to take action, and support your organizing and advocacy goals. Videos that help you win. Video for impact.
Impact Video is proud to be a union shop affiliated with IBEW Local 1200.
Impact Video’s founder, Michael Blain, has more than 25 years of strategic communications, video production, union organizing, media relations, digital strategy, social media and web publishing experience. Much of this work has been with labor unions, or labor-affiliated organizations.
He is also an avid cyclist, hiker and photographer. He is profoundly concerned about the state of our planet’s environment, rapid climate change and what kind of world we are leaving for future generations. In addition to his labor video work, he is very interested in working with environmental organizations, especially those engaged in “blue/green” alliance building that seeks to ensure that jobs in emerging green industries such as electric vehicles and renewable energy are good, union, family-wage jobs.
Michael has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of California at Santa Cruz and a master’s degree in Film & Video production from American University. He is also a Part 107 licensed and certified drone pilot.
